The Kanchanaburi Memorial

The Kanchanaburi Memorial in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery

The Kanchanaburi Memorial commemorates eleven Muslim soldiers of the Indian Army who died in Thailand between 20 November 1945 and 17 October 1946. These soldiers were buried in Muslim cemeteries in Thailand, and as the Commonwealth War Graves Commission records “their graves could not be maintained”. The Kanchanaburi Memorial is located in the entrance building of the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, on the right hand side.
